ISOLATION RECORD

Images taken during the early days of COVID, we rented a home on a small seasonal  island in Narragansett, RI. While acknowledging that certain privilege allowed us to relocate from our Brooklyn apartment for a time, the uncanny sense of not knowing, anxiety, melancholy, and a strange, seemingly discordant, sense of calm in the eery silence of things made me feel as though I was actually in one of my photographs all the time. I skipped rocks with my sons, learned bird calls, and wandered, free of any sense of agency for what the future held, and in that I felt unburdened and connected to the earth in the moment, and only that moment.
